CANONPUNCTURE: Blue is at the very end of her canon, but feel free to fill her in on the events of the Dreamer Trilogy!
BACKTAGGING: For interesting threads, I am usually cool with it in perpetuity. However, if it's an event thread and we're like one or two events past that, let's just handwave and move on.
CONTENT WARNINGS: witnessed child abuse (of the violent, non-sexual variety) may come up in narration, memories of past character death in narration, potentially lectures on the dangers of global warming. Let me know if you need me to avoid!
IN CHARACTER
CHARACTER: Blue Sargent
CANON: The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater
AGE: 18
DESCRIPTION: Visual
Blue is just barely five feet tall with dark hair and hazel eyes. She often expresses herself through her hair style and clothing. Expect to see her repurposing (often throough shredding or painting the fabric) whatever clothes she can get her hands on to create layered and eccentric looks.
DEMEANOR: Blue might be tiny, but her presence fills a room. She also definitely gives off the impression that she will fight you if you mock her for being short.
ABILITIES: The technical term (if something coined in the 14th century or earlier can be called "technical") seems to be "mirror". Basically, Blue is a walking battery/amplifier. She increases the abilities of others. That's it. She has started dabbling with reflecting magic away from herself, or actively cutting people off from using her power but those abilities are still very new to her.
OFFENSIVE SUBJECTS: Blue is easily offended. She has strong feelings about the environment and sustainability. (Please do not litter on the ship!) She will react strongly to sexism, racism, classism, as well as someone trying to tell her that psychics will go to hell for their abilities.
INTERACTIONS
MAGIC: as a "mirror", Blue is able to reflect some (non-physical) magic away from herself. If someone uses telekinesis to throw a ball at her, she would be hit by the ball unless she physically ducks it. But, if someone tries to make her fall asleep, she may be able to deflect it. However, this skill is new and she has very little practice with it.
Since Blue is essentially a walking battery, your character might notice their abilities boosted in her presence. (Especially if touching.)
MENTAL: Blue grew up with a house full of all sorts of psychics. Her mother taught her tactics for defending from psychic attack. That being said, she likely will not be able to feel one coming, so might not have any clue of when to engage those defenses. I am happy to have her mind or future read. If I know that's what your character is going for, I'll provide plenty of mind-reading fodder in my prose.
Blue is an amplifier for psychic abilities. She makes spirits louder and the future easier to read. Unless she actively decides to cut your character off, her presence is enough for it to activate (even if you are using it against her) and it will increase with touch.
MIMICRY: All five foot nothing is available to mimic! Have fun with it!
INTIMACY: I am ship-trash and will happily ship with most characters as long as there is chemistry. However, Blue's is taken from a canon point where she is with her true love and there will be much reluctance and guilt involved from her end if she develops feelings for someone else. (Always up for simulation shenanigans though!)
Also, Blue is 18 (just a few months shy of 19!) and I absolutely understand people may not be comfortable shipping with her so please know my default for all interactions will be platonic gen unless we've discussed otherwise.
Please note: Blue is very tactile with her friends, so if she remotely likes a character, casual touching is to be expected. Please let me know if you want me to avoid that!
VIOLENCE: Blue knows how to throw a punch but hasn't had much cause for fighting so unless the odds are stacked heavily in her favor, she is probably not coming out the winner of any physical altercation. I am absolutely open for her to be subjected to violence. (H/C anyone?) Let's hash out any heavy violence or major damage ahead of the fact, tho!
